  • Term: September 2026 to August 2027, term time only
    Hours: 35 hours per week (+ 8 hours boarding duties in return for free accommodation and 3 meals per day)
     Rate of Pay: £584 per month
     Reports to: Head of Sport Science and Director of Football

    Purpose of the Role

    The Sport Science Work Placement is designed to support the seamless delivery of strength and conditioning (S&C) sessions for the Elite Football Programme. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in a high-performance football environment, working alongside experienced professionals in strength & conditioning and football coaching.

    Key Responsibilities

    Athletic Development & Coaching Support

    ·       Work collaboratively alongside the Head of Sport Science.

    ·       Lead and support gym-based and pitch-based athletic development for players.

    ·       Lead on-pitch warm-ups.

    ·       Assist with the rehabilitation of injured players.

    ·       Lead and support junior school football sessions, promoting core football technical skills.

    ·       Assist with physical testing periods.

    Additional Support

    ·       Manage the match camera during fixtures and appropriate training sessions.

    ·       Assist with the maintenance of the individual development plans for players and coaches.

    ·       Support the delivery of sports science educational programmes to enrich players, parents, and coaches.

    ·       Help with social media videography, capturing key moments and sharing content.

    ·       Assist boarding staff when required and arrange transportation for boarding students to their respective clubs.

    General Responsibilities

    ·       Ensure the safety and well-being of children and young people by adhering to the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy at all times.

    ·       Record training, absences, and leave requests, and inform line managers accordingly.

    ·       Display correct staff identification at all times while on-site.

    ·       Attend training and staff INSET sessions organised by the school for a consistent approach across the staff.

    ·       Work on weekdays, Saturday mornings, and occasional evenings for fixtures as required (term-time only).

    ·       Perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the Director of Football.

    Qualifications

    ·       Working towards a good honours degree in a relevant course (Essential)

    ·       FA Coaching Level 1 or higher (Essential)

    ·       FA First Aid qualification or equivalent (Essential)

    ·       FA Safeguarding Certificate or equivalent (Desirable)

    ·       UK Driving Licence (Desirable)

     

    Experience

    ·       Experience of coaching (Essential)

    ·       Experience of coaching across a range of age groups (Desirable)

    Knowledge & Skills

    ·       Strong passion and enthusiasm for football, able to inspire players (Essential)

    ·       Basic sport science/strength and conditioning knowledge, with a desire to learn more (Essential)

    ·       Ability to build positive rapport and collaborate with colleagues and players (Essential)

    ·       Ability to create an enthusiastic learning environment that encourages high standards of effort (Essential)

    ·       Understanding of how to use motivational strategies tailored to individual players (Essential)

    ·       Strong understanding of the need to promote positive behaviour in line with school policies (Essential)

    ·       Ability to plan and implement activities that meet the needs of all pupils (Essential)

    ·       Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently (Essential)

    ·       Basic ICT skills in Microsoft Office (Desirable)

    ·       Understanding of child protection and safeguarding (Essential)
